Founder and Managing Director of Equality Forward Michelle King is a globally recognised expert on gender equality and organisational culture. Based on over a decade worth of research Michelle believes that to tackle inequality we need to fix workplace cultures so that they work for everyone.
She is the host of a popular podcast called The Fix. Michelle is the author of the bestselling, award-winning book The Fix: Overcome the Invisible Barriers that are Holding Women Back at Work. Michelle has been featured in The Economist, Harvard Business Review, CNBC, CNN Business, Fortune, Financial Times, Bloomberg, Time, Business Insider, The Times, Daily Mail and LinkedIn Editors.
Michelle is the founder of Equality Forward, a global consultancy that provides leaders with the assessment, development and inclusion coaching needed to build cultures of equality at work. In addition, Michelle is a Senior Advisor to the UN Foundation’s Girl Up Campaign, where she leads the NextGen Leadership Development Program™, which enables young women to navigate and overcome the barriers to their success. She also heads up a global Leadership Inclusion Academy™ with Berkeley Executive Coaching Institute.
Prior to this Michelle was the Director of Inclusion at Netflix, and before that she was the head of UN Women’s Global Innovation Coalition for Change, which included managing over 30 private sector partnerships to accelerate the achievement of gender equality and women’s empowerment. Michelle has two decades of international experience working in the private sector. In each of her roles, Michelle lends her expertise to advance gender equality and to enhance opportunity and achievement for women globally. In 2019 Women Tech Founders, a Chicago-based organisation dedicated to advancing women in the tech industry, awarded Michelle with the 2019 Inspiring Innovator Award, for her outstanding achievements in the sector.
Selina Suresh has over seven years of international experience implementing social mobility and diversity initiatives across the UK government and globally for UN Women. Her career path to date has been driven by her commitment to advance gender, diversity and inclusion practices in and beyond the workplace. She led an award-winning recruitment campaign for the UK government to support greater diversity, reaching number five in The Times Top 100 Graduate Employers rankings. At UN Women HQ in New York, Selina integrated an inclusive employee value proposition across HR strategies. She then worked closely with UN Women Nepal and partner UN agencies to scale up programmes focused on rural women’s leadership and economic empowerment. Selina holds a masters from University College London, where she broadened her critical understanding of gender sensitive strategies and alternative approaches in education to overcome social division and inequalities.
Adam spent nearly a decade as a lawyer and strategist working for global law firms where he led international teams. His areas of expertise include equality and human rights, public international law, and technology and media. With a master’s degree in Conflict and Dispute Resolution with Arabic from the School of Oriental and African Studies in London, Adam is a polyglot, speaking English, Hebrew, Arabic, Spanish, French, German and Italian. Adam’s experience as a queer person and son of a Jewish-Iranian refugee fuelled his passion for justice and equality. This experience has led him to do work with global organizations working to protect the rights of LGBTQ+ people including launching Stonewall’s Global Workplace briefings, advising employers on how they can create inclusive and equal workplaces for LGBTQ+ employees around the world.
Marlen Kirsch has several years of experience working with international clients making sure they get what they need to excel with bringing experts into the organisation. Marlen completed her degree in Visual Cultures at Goldsmith University in London and loves to work and connect with new people. Her heart lies in the improvement of the workspace with incoming experts and seeing the impact it can have.
After living in Australia, Canada and the UK she is now back in Berlin, Germany.
Jennifer Durbin Tuffy is an Executive Coach who believes that authentic, whole-hearted leadership is the key to discovering professional fulfilment and unlocking the full potential of leaders and their teams. Jennifer works with executives and high-potential leaders who strive to realise their professional aspirations and live out their personal values.
Jennifer spent 20 years as a Tech Exec leading organisational and digital transformations by designing and developing high performance teams. Through her years in leadership, Jennifer discovered true professional fulfilment being in service to others through coaching. Jennifer received her executive coaching certification from the University of California at Berkeley Haas School of Business Executive Coaching Institute, her MBA from University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School, is a member of the International Coaching Federation, and is the Founder and President of Scoutenger, LLC.
As an executive and leadership coach, Ty brings to the table experiences of adapting-to-change, leadership, compassion, and developing others. Ty has several years of experience in strategic marketing, macro-economic analysis, competitive and market intelligence, medical devices, and oncology.
With over a decade of leadership experience in both small and large groups, the teams Ty has been a part of have completed projects with results ranging from team-specific goals to having an industry-wide impact. Ty’s years as a Corporal in the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department developed and honed his ability to create strong teams, work effortlessly in extreme conditions, and effectively lead a team for success.
Nirali Buch Mankodi has several years of experience working in talent and learning with Vodafone and Accenture, where she led workshops and used psychometric tools to create new insight about what great leadership looks like. She has designed and facilitated talent development programmes and coached managers to help them understand their leadership style. Nirali’s academic background is in human psychology and she holds a Masters in Occupational Psychology.
Nirali is the co-founder and director of Superfoodio, a plant-based food business, recently listed in Enterprise Nation’s top ten start-ups to watch in 2021. She also actively shares her start-up journey via podcasts, press and as a guest speaker at events to support aspiring women entrepreneurs.
Carmel Clarkin has a degree in Japanese and Politics from the University of Otago. She spent a year working in Japan before returning home to New Zealand in 2005 to pursue a career in Advertising and Marketing, with a focus on Digital Marketing Strategy and E-commerce. Carmel undertakes research and creates content for Equality Forward. She lives in Auckland, New Zealand with her husband and 2-year-old daughter.
Stu leads our dedicated digital media arm of Equality Forward, focusing on producing film and content which compliment our approach to DEI storytelling. With over 20 years in both broadcast and corporate media, Stu believes all thoughts and strategies can be brought to life with a camera. With a real commitment to equality within business and the wider world around him, Stu is excited for the journey he has embarked upon with Equality Forward.
